Sleeper
Product Design Internship

Overview
The Problem
Sleeper is trusted by 13+ million players. The Fantasy Football landing page was for commissioners deciding whether to move their league from ESPN, Yahoo, Fantrax or CBS. They don’t need fantasy football explained. They need to see that their league will work on Sleeper and that the switch is worth it.
My Role
Product Design Intern at Sleeper (Blitz Studios), June to August 2026.
I worked inside the design team’s new 2027 design system, alongside two other interns. I redesigned and coded the Fantasy Football landing page, starting with the low-fi wireframes and section structure the other interns and I all built from. The landing page is live.
Tools: Figma, Figma MCP (design-to-code) and Claude (AI-assisted code).

Process
I started with low-fi wireframes and the structure for every section, for me and the other interns. Then I redesigned five sections in Figma and built the page in code. Where I adapted teammates’ work, I say so.
Lead with the real product
The rule from the senior designers and leadership was that we’re product designers: the product comes first, and visuals and effects come after, not before. So the hero leads with the redesigned draftboard and web app that was launching alongside the fantasy football pages. It’s dark by default and light on hover. The old page opened with a text card and an illustration.

The redesigned hero
One grid for the whole page
Fantasy Done Right was the first section after the hero, and it set the layout for the rest of the page: a two-column grid with the text and information on the left and the visual or interaction on the right. League Types and Mock Draft follow it.
I cut three points from the feature list: “Fantasy sports all year long,” “Unparalleled scoring customization” and “Truly individualize your team.” They wouldn’t fit under the subtitle, “See why millions of players draft, chat, and talk trash with their friends on Sleeper,” and parts of them overlapped with the other points. Four features were left, each with one line.
For the visual I used three screens from the mobile app: SleeperZone, the draftboard and the matchup screen. The hero already shows the web app, so a second web visual would have felt repetitive. The mobile app was also years ahead of the web version, so for someone thinking about moving their league over, it was the best picture of what Sleeper is.

Show what each league type does to your roster
League Types is a small interactive explainer. Pick Redraft, Keeper or Dynasty and a ’25 roster turns into a ’26 roster. Redraft clears everyone. Keeper carries over the players you choose. Dynasty keeps everyone and adds a rookie pick. Chopped is a short teaser that links to its own landing page, designed by another intern. The senior designers asked me to add it.

Each week the lowest scorer is eliminated and their roster hits waivers. Outlast the league to win it all.
Make the draft order visible
The mock draft section is an animated board. Switch between snake, linear and auction and the pick order re-animates, so you see how the formats differ. I built the first version of the mock-draft engine. After critique, another intern iterated the layout so the format options sit under the board instead of beside the copy, and the shipped page follows that layout.

How to Play, with current thumbnails
The video cards needed new thumbnails because the old ones no longer matched Sleeper’s redesign. I worked with the graphic designers to get updated ones.

One testimonial marquee across every fantasy page
A teammate’s carousel design was favored in critique. Leadership then asked me to standardize it across the marketing pages the interns had built: Fantasy Football, Chopped, Pick’Em and Survivor. I worked with the marketing team to gather real user-generated content for each product, put it into each page, and linked every piece back to the original Sleeper post on Instagram, YouTube Shorts or TikTok. I didn’t design the carousel. I made it consistent, filled it with real content, and made every piece traceable to its source.
Your team
Join the party, you’re already late.
I left all the other fantasy football apps and haven’t looked back
In-depth statistics are phenomenal. Blows ESPN and Yahoo out of the water.
Whole draft only takes 5 minutes, you can save & quit like Madden
Dynasty is the best! If you’re on the fence then hop over
There are so many progressive features, it blows competitors away
If your league isn’t on Sleeper, you have to leave that league
No football app is perfect, but this is the closest I think we’ll get

Answer the switching questions before they’re asked
The old page had no FAQ. The new one is aimed at the people we were trying to convert: commissioners deciding whether to move their league from ESPN, Yahoo, Fantrax or CBS. Its layout was another intern’s. The content was mine. With the UX research team, I went through the 53+ articles in Sleeper’s support FAQ and picked the questions and answers that decide a switch: keeping league history, moving mid-season, carrying over keeper and dynasty rosters, commissioner tools, scoring and roster settings, waivers and trades.
Questions
Yes — commissioners can preserve past seasons using Sleeper’s League History Editor, recording each season’s top finishers and final standings so your league’s legacy stays visible. It’s entered by the commissioner in the mobile app, so your championship history lives on even after you move over.
Yes. You can switch at any point in the season. You’ll create your league, enter each team’s current roster, and invite your members to claim their teams. Commissioners can also add earlier weeks’ scores so standings stay accurate for the rest of the season.
Keeper and dynasty leagues — including auction-keeper formats — are supported. When you set up, you’ll place each team’s keepers or rosters as you build your league, then keep running it season over season like any other Sleeper dynasty.
Commissioners get broad control over their league: set scoring, roster, and league rules, force add/drops or trades, adjust weekly lineups and scores, customize playoff seeding, add co-commissioners, and manage members. It’s built to let you fix things and run your league without waiting on support.
Yes — scoring formats and roster construction are both customizable, so your league runs on your rules instead of a fixed default. You can tailor scoring settings and roster positions to match how your league has always played.
Sleeper supports three waiver types — rolling waivers (the default), reverse-standings waivers, and FAAB (free-agent bidding) — so your league isn’t locked into a single system and can run waivers the way it prefers.
Sleeper’s Trade Center lets you build, counter, and manage offers in one place. You can send exploding offers that expire automatically if the other manager doesn’t respond, and use the trade block to signal which players you’re open to moving.
Responsive and accessible
I made the page responsive across desktop, tablet and phone, so it holds up on whatever device a commissioner opens it on. It also respects reduced-motion settings, the league and draft-format tabs work with arrow keys, and the video lightbox closes with Escape and hands focus back where you were.
What I designed and what I adapted
I designed the hero, Fantasy Done Right, League Types, Mock Draft and How to Play sections. Another intern designed the comparison table, the FAQ layout and the testimonials section, and the nav and footer came from shared components built by fellow interns. My part in the testimonials was the standardizing and the content, and in the FAQ it was picking the questions and answers, both described above.
Conclusion
What Happened Next
The landing page is live. These are screenshots of sleeper.com/fantasy-football on desktop, tablet and phone, taken in October 2026.

What I’d Do Differently
I’d check that a handoff carries everything the page needs to render, not just the code. On the live landing page the headlines fall back to a default font, most likely because the font file didn’t make it through handoff. Opening the page on a clean machine before handing it off would have caught it.
I’d budget for weight. The interactive sections and the fan videos in the testimonial marquee make the page slow to load on a phone, and a phone is where a commissioner opens a link from the group chat. I’d compress the clips, show a still until each video scrolls into view, and test on a slow connection before calling it done.
I’d design the hero shot for phones too. The draftboard reads as real product on a desktop, but at phone width it turns into texture. A tighter crop, like one column of picks or a single player card, would carry the same idea on a small screen.
I’d make the interactions pay off without a click. League Types opens on Redraft, so a visitor who scrolls past never sees Keeper or Dynasty, the formats a switching commissioner cares about most. A slow auto-cycle until someone interacts, or a hint like the ones in this case study, would show every state to people who only skim.
And when I disagreed with a decision, I’d bring more than my own experience as a fantasy player: a quick prototype or a side-by-side of the two layouts. This was my first time designing as part of a team. I iterated a lot on direction from leadership, and I learned to take critique as information about the work, not about me.
